Dawn Reid types your personal notes over tea!

cyanotype photograms

If you’ve spent much time in our magical tea room, you’ll know that our space is made even more vibrant with the inspirational energy and works of our artist friends.

We’ve had the giclee prints of Allen Crawford on our walls during the wild ride that is the pandemic and are so grateful for the company that his turtle, crab and moth friends provide. (His prints are still available for sale in our store and make a very thoughtful gift.)

We are very excited to offer our first in store event since, well you know when. For a fleeting 2 hours we will host live art in it’s purest form…. with a typewriter. Sweet sayings by Mary Oliver and Ram Dass will float through the air as well as feelings of well being and community connectivity.

Northern Liberties Artists at Work returns tomorrow, Saturday November 13th, from 5 to 7 pm.

This is the final Artists at Work of 2021 and we are hosting artist and dear friend Dawn Reid. She will have her cyanotype photograms and a travel typewriter set up to make customized notecards for all your loved ones this holiday. Sometimes a personalized note can make a greater impact than an expensive gift.

Dawn has played with a variety of mediums over the years as a maker + mover, including clay, glass, watercolor, and photography. While wandering vacant lots, manicured gardens and woodlands, she’s inspired by the shapes, colors, and textures that abound in nature.

She can usually be found close to the ground — herding cats, practicing yin yoga, or watching a bumblebee dance on a dandelion.

Reid has been teaching in the Body Pathways program at the University of the Arts for 15 years.

Her line of Cyanotype Photogram Notecards were created during her time as the Stenton Museum caretaker. Dawn uses botanical specimens from the garden, meadow, and woodlands from the museum grounds and using the solar cyanotype process, her stunning visuals of saturated blues are created. Dawn is also excitedly working on cyanotypes using plants from the fields at Henry Got Crops.

Creativity will flow in many forms, including tea, please join us!

Special thanks to Penn Treaty Special Services District @penntreatyssd for sponsoring this event, we really appreciate your generosity!
