Watery messages this Plastic Free July!
We’re pretty Random over at the tea room, but some times we hone in on the simple act of brewing tea and decide to get very specific.
To get to the very precise point - WATER.
Tea, (and many other things) would be nothing without it. It is so easy to get distracted by our busy lifestyles that we compromise for convenience.
(I’m looking at you single use container!)
At RTR, we are trying, every day, to step away from that kind of mind set. Our latest attempt is making our own Spring Water!
Show your support this Plastic Free July by stopping by and checking out our new equipment. While you are there pick up a few of our Trial Sized Teas in our snazzy Compostable Packaging. In house prices are lower than online and there are price breaks when you get 3 varieties.
While we are on the topic of water, why don’t you join me (Becky) on a boat this Friday for a concert? I’ll be bringing Iced Chicory Chai to sip on while enjoying the atmosphere.
Details about our water journey as well as how to have a journey on the water (without leaving the dock) this Friday are below. I hope to see you soon.
Stay Random (but sometimes specific),
Becky

We've got a new fixture in the tea room and it's not a customer that takes a sip of their drink every 10 minutes.....
It is our new Reverse Osmosis Filtered Water Tower!
We had been getting deliveries of 2.5 gallon water in single use plastic containers and the list of frustrations with the water service industry is long. But when they decided to leave 4 cases of 24 single use bottles, I knew that this relationship couldn't go on.
The Better Water Challenge was Accepted!
Research and tea friends led me to Tea Curious who have an open source water balancing mineral recipe that they also sell in their online store. Their transparency of information and passionate love of tea is inspiring. I highly recommend taking a look at the work they are doing.
I got the ingredients, now I needed the water.
It just so happens that I live around the corner from a remarkable vegan restaurant The Nile Cafe that also sells reverse osmosis water by the gallon. Just bring your jug and they fill it for you.
Final step hardware.
The jug and base were easy, the sturdy, space conscious custom made stand, required an artisan. Luckily the carpenter ( @fishtruckjuice ) that outfitted the tea room way back in 2008 was available and BEHOLD! A custom welded cherry wood water tower.
Let me know what you think, our teas are tasting better than ever with the balanced minerals. Stop by to check it out in person and share with that friend that is super water conscious.
