Tell us about yourself
My name is Becky, and I'm doing my best to create healthy habits in a toxic world. I created the tea room out of a need for a safe space and a love of sharing. Over the past 14 years, we have built a tea community in Philadelphia that I am happy to call my tea family or Cha Ren (tea people). We share, learn and grow with our staff and customers, and I look forward to the years to come.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Pre-pandemic, we were named one of the top 11 tea rooms in the world, according to a CNN article. Post pandemic, I'd say that surviving the trials and tribulations of COVID life is a major accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The most difficult thing about being a business owner is staying on top of everything
and delegating tasks with coherent communication.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Have a clear plan.
Expect it to be harder than you could ever imagine.
Listen to staff and customers and have an open heart.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Community is everything; it can feed your soul as well as sustain your business. Don't miss out on positive customer interactions just because you are busy; it's always worth taking the time to share the love.
